Welcome to the Institute for Biblical Studies!  Here is where you begin your journey to biblical literacy.  It's a long hike, and it begins with this review of what is expected of you as a learner.  You'll learn to write in a certain way, to read the writing of others who have gone before you and to use some of the vocabulary generic to the biblical studies world.

As Christians our faith is based on the New Testament—but can we really trust the Bible? Skeptics say no, arguing that the Gospel manuscripts have been doctored to push a theological agenda. Dr. Craig Evans takes this claim head-on, traveling the globe to track down the most ancient New Testament manuscripts. Along the way, he highlights groundbreaking new evidence, demonstrating that the case for the reliability of the New Testament manuscripts is stronger than ever.

This beginning course will help you learn enough about Greek to find out what the words of the Bible actually mean in their original language.  It will also help you sort through the huge number of commentaries and study tools and understand the better ones.  The lectures are based on the Dr. William Mounce's, Greek for the Rest of Us (Zondervan) and will teach you enough Greek, without lots of memorization, to achieve these goals.
